Shiny, crackle turquoise transparent glaze.

Working Notes:
Apply sparingly, as it can run.
It can blister with an unsympathetic firing or some clay bodies.
Crazing develops after cooling in the kiln and this is reinforced in time, even up to a week after. If crazing does not develop, try removing wares from the kiln at approx 100 °C. Cracks can be highighted with black China ink, acrylic paints or even strong black tea/coffee.
With a slightly thicker application the glaze pools on the inner surfaces of plates and bowls, making darker turquoise crackles.
Suitable for Raku.
The last photo shows the difference in layers after firing to 1050°C.
Studio Safety:
Good housekeeping is essential in any pottery studio to minimise inhalation of silica dust. Always clean up with a damp sponge and if any dust from the dried brush-on is airborne. wear an FFP3 mask.
Applying Brush on Glaze:
Remove glaze from pot, stir and agitate the glaze in a larger container, make sure all the material is mixed thoroughly. Whilst keeping the glaze moving, dip brush and hold sideways, in order to keep the material evenly distributed, then apply using confident dabs, move the liquid around and work quickly and smoothly. Botz reccommend 1 to 2 applications as this glaze has a high tendency to run, allow to dry between coverings.
