A temperature probe used in conjunction with a Pyrometer to measure temperatures between -50°C to 1250°C degrees.
Use:
The Type N Thermocouple typical use would be for low to higher firing environments such as raku, small alternative kiln projects using a variety of fuels, gas kilns and wood firing kilns. They must not be used in electric kilns.
Specifications:
- 2 metre wire.
- Probe length - 200mm long, diameter - 6mm.
- Mineralised sheath to protect from carbonisation and can be used in reduction environments.
- Follows the standard IEC 60584-3 colour coding and is a class 1 product.
General advice:
With both the Type K and the Type N thermocouples, they should be used correctly to ensure a long life. We recommend only holding them to heat long enough to produce a reading, then withdraw. Do not dangle the thermocouple into a hole or hold it by the cable. Do not hold over heat, or leave in heat, as this will pass up through the probe, and melt the black casing connecting the probe and wire. This can then provide distorted readings.
