Product Information

Size: 5kg

Texture: Smooth.

Unfired characteristics: Soft and dark coloured.

Fired colour: Pale buff.

Shrinkage: 10% from wet to fired (1200°C).

Firing Range

900°C to 1280°C (cone 010 - cone 9).

For optimum translucency it is recommended to fire to 1280°C (cone 9).

Working Notes

A very plastic, malleable clay, ideal for small modelling, small sculpture and hand-built projects. Do not be afraid to go thin, as that is what paper clays are good at.

Be prepared for the ventilation of the kiln and room when firing, as it will smoke a little from the organic fibres burning out.

Health & Safety

As the clay contains crystalline silica, avoid inhaling the dust from dried out clay. Wear an FFP3 mask, wash your hands and clean up using a damp sponge. Dust off dirty clothes and aprons outside.
