Textured Fruit Bowl

Instructions

1) Roll out 1kg of clay, and allow to dry to a leather-hard

state (firm enough to move without leaving finger marks).

2) Using a dinner plate as a template, cut out a large circle

of clay.

3) Cover an upturned bowl (Breakfast or Soup bowls work well) with

cling film.

4) Drape the clay circle over the upturned bowl, and

gently push the clay towards the table. This will form

‘waves’ around the bowl. Gently manipulate them into

your desired shape.

5) Allow the clay to dry over the bowl, until it no longer

easily bends but is also not completely dry.

6) Turn the clay over, and using a slightly damp sponge,

rub over the clay to smooth out any marks.

7) Using various sized hole cutters, cut out as many, or

as few holes as desired.

8) Gently sponge over holes to give a smooth finish.

9) Allow to fully dry before bisque firing to 1100°C.

10) Glaze using 2-3 coats of Vitraglaze.

11) Fire again to 1040°C.
