Product Information

Liquid brush-on ml, powder kg.

True Chinese celadons were done in a reduction atmosphere which gave them a beautiful depth with that soft satin look. Our opaque green celadon matches the colour and softness, but with very small iron coloured freckle giving character. This colour would look fantastic on high firing red/orange bodies to give it that authentic look.

Firing and Working Notes

Firing Range:

1222°C to 1280°C (Cone 6 to Cone 9).

The sample shows two applications on Vitraclay White Throwing Clay, fired to 1240°C.

Suitable for Stoneware clay.

Working Notes:

  • As a brush-on, apply 2 good coverings of glaze as it could appear light brown.
  • Do not cover thickly as it will pin hole.
  • See our dipping advice guide when purchasing as a powder.

For advice and tips on application with a brush-on, please refer to the article in our knowledge base. "Application with a Brush".

For powdered glazes, please read the article "More About a Dipping Glaze".

This glaze could be potentially safe for dinner/tableware. To be certain, you would need to submit your wares for testing at a reputable laboratory. In the UK, the emphasis in law is to the ‘maker’ who takes responsibility for the food/dinner worthiness of a glazed or unglazed ceramic ware.

For further reading, please read our knowledge base article "Food Safety in Ceramics".

Health & Safety

Lead Free.

Refer to each SDS below for the individual hazards of each glaze.

General Advice:

When handled sensibly, a 'brush-on' glaze presents no serious health issues, but to be safe, do not ingest the liquid and avoid contact with your skin and eyes.

A powder or dried brush-on glaze presents a hazard. It may contain crystalline silica and other materials, which, when inhaled, can cause long-term damage to the lungs or other health problems. We suggest when working with powders or when cleaning, wear an FFP3/P3 mask and filter and use a wet sponge.

Beautiful glaze

Beautiful minty pastel green satin effect with 2-3 coats at 1240 degrees glaze firing on both smooth buff and Sibelco chocolate speckle clay. It does run if glazed thickly, which can be an intentional effect. On my repurchase list after trying the sample size.

Reliable and subtle

I tried a free sample and based on the very pleasing results I have now bought a large bottle of the brush on glaze. It’s a lovely calm colour, and behaved perfectly at 1260 degrees. Didn’t run and beautiful satin finish
