China Clay

Often referred to as kaolin in glaze recipe books. Its main use is as a stabilizer, literally meaning it makes a glaze less runny. It will also add workability and whiteness to clay bodies. In slurries, it will help reduce the settling out due to the surface chemistry of its particles.

China Clay contains <1% crystalline silica which when inhaled may cause long term lung damage, therefore we recommend wearing a FFP3/P3 Mask and working in a well ventilated area. Keep working areas free of dust by cleaning up with a damp sponge.
