A useful flux in high temperature glazes. Often used as a matting agent and even opacifies at low temperatures. In high amounts it will bead and crawl to produce a popular cobblestone affect. It can also be the cause of pin holing.

Health & Safety

Magnesium carbonate is considered a nuisance dust; therefore, we recommend the wearing of a FFP3/P3 mask and filter. Keep working areas free of dust cleaning up with a damp sponge.

In keeping with our overall general advice, we suggest wearing full PPE when handling any of our raw materials. This includes a FFP3/P3 mask, safety glasses, and gloves. We also suggest working in a well-ventilated area.

It is a sensible precaution for children not to work with raw materials.
