If you wish to recycle clay removing moisture, mixing and to a certain extent taking out air pockets then a pugmill is an excellent piece of studio equipment. The G49E Gladstone pugmill offers a 50mm extrusion from an aluminium barrel. It can be taken apart for an occasional clean, having a split body fixed with bolts so you can gain access to the internals. The blades too can be adjusted along a hexagonal shaft, for different configurations in mixing and extrusion. It can also be used in a domestic studio being supplied with a 13amp plug.
Other Pugmills are available, which offer larger extrusions, more powerful (greater quantities of clay), de-airing models (which removes all air bubbles) and vertical ones including 3 phase models, but call the Hotclay technical line for further details 01934 863040.
The Gladstone E range of pug mills has been specifically designed for the studio and classroom environment. These machines being both compact and lightweight make them easily transportable. The 49E is fitted with a hopper safety grid and thermal overload safety switch as standard.
