Sibelco High Fire Terracotta Clay

I enjoyed making ovenware. The end result is very robust and homely. Quite groggy so a bit hard to throw with but manageable. I would buy it again.

I use a lot of the sibelco clays so was excited to try this. Unfortunately it was far too rough for me to throw with, my hands were not happy. Maybe they're just sensitive...

I bought this to throw with so a bit disappointed I'm not able to - and as expected made a lot of mess! I'm sure I'll find a use for it though

Whilst the quality and final finish of the clay is great it really is not for throwing, and if you do be prepared for pain. The grog is large and like sharp brick pieces that are in abundance. Would be perfect for hand building.

This clay is a really beautiful colour!but it's very groggy, and I found it quite painful to throw with! I think I'll save it for hand-building.

On the plus side though, I have very thoroughly exfoliated hands now :)

I bought this clay along with the multi purpose buff and white clays - was pleased with the other two, but this one was far too rough for throwing - it immediately cut my hand when I tried. I attempted to make a test tile ring on the wheel using this terracotta and not only was it painful to throw with, it also was too stiff to be pulled out into a small ring without cracking. Even with plenty of water.

I haven't fired it yet so I can't comment on how it is as a finished product, but very disappointed with the false advertising of this product. I would not have bought it if I'd known it wasn't any good on the wheel.
