Working Notes

This clay has a slightly coarse texture when throwing, but it shapes well and tolerates changes. With hand building it cuts to a clean edge and has a firm plastic feel.

The colour at bisque is more yellow than buff, this darkens with a heavy mottling at a higher temperature. This works well with a light application of a glaze allowing the character of the clay to show through.

The spots/speckles within this clay can stick to the shelves when fired at higher temperatures. Flat bottomed wares should be stilted to protect shelves.

Health & Safety

As the clay contains crystalline silica avoid inhaling the dust from dried out clay. Wear a P3 mask, wash hands after use and clean up using a damp sponge. Dust off dirty clothes and aprons outside.
