Firing and Working Notes

Firing Range:

Fire between 1186°C (Cone 5) and 1222°C (Cone 6), but can be fired up to 1285°C (Cone 10).

Suitable for stoneware clay.

Working Notes:

  • The movement and flow of Mayco Flux can be influenced by factors including firing temperatures/programs, fluidity of other glazes, number and method of applications.
  • It can be applied above or below other glazes, creating different effects.
  • Can be fired up to 1285C (cone 10), but runs more.
  • This glaze runs, stilts or shelf protection may be needed.
  • Avoid applying Mayco Flux to the bottom third of your ware, to avoid the glaze running off.

General Advice:

When handled safely, a brush-on liquid glaze poses no risks, but avoid ingestion and contact with skin or eyes.

A powder or dried brush-on glaze presents a hazard as it may contain crystalline silica and other materials. When working with powders or when cleaning, wear an FFP3/P3 mask and filter and use a wet sponge.
