Product Information

When making a dipping glaze or casting slip, simply eyeballing the viscosity can lead to problems. Add this professional indispensable tool to your list of equipment.

The hole in the cup is 4mm, and the reservoir when full to the brim is 100cm³. When water is passed through it should take 10 seconds. A more viscous liquid (thicker) will take longer.

As a general guide, casting slips should take about 40 seconds and a glaze dipping mix might take 19 seconds. These are not definitive, and each glaze or slurry will have its own qualities, but once you achieve perfection when testing, you will find it easier to maintain consistency with future slurries.

We have resourced a true 4mm, Din standard (4#) hole. A standard size and often used as an example on ceramic forums. Be aware, there are many advertised cheaper, which although state 4# are significantly different when measured.
