This glaze could be potentially safe for dinner/tableware. To be certain, you would need to submit your wares for testing at a reputable laboratory. In the UK, the emphasis in law is to the ‘maker’ who takes responsibility for the food/dinner worthiness of a glazed or unglazed ceramic ware.

For further reading, please read our knowledge base article "Food Safety in Ceramics".

Health & Safety

Lead Free.

Refer to each SDS below for the individual hazards of each glaze.

General Advice:

When handled sensibly, a 'brush-on' glaze presents no serious health issues, but to be safe, do not ingest the liquid and avoid contact with your skin and eyes.

A powder or dried brush-on glaze presents a hazard. It may contain crystalline silica and other materials, which, when inhaled, can cause long-term damage to the lungs or other health problems. We suggest when working with powders or when cleaning, wear an FFP3/P3 mask and filter and use a wet sponge.

Great

I love this glaze. 3 coats fired to 1250c. Was expecting a rich colour with mottling but it almost appears to look slightly metallic after firing. Love it

fascinating glaze

New to glazing but so impressed with the subtleties of its natural autumn colours. Used it on a poppy seed head marmalade jar but having seen examples of it with reactive white that's definitely next
