Mixing amounts vary, but a general guide is to make a small, diluted amount of sodium silicate in water. Start with a ratio of 1 to 4 (sodium silicate/water). Use a splash of this mix, which will be anything from 0.05% to 0.3% of the dry weight of clay, usually with a similar amount of soda ash.
Considered a nuisance dust and can cause skin and eye irritation; wear an FFP3/P3 mask, gloves, and safety glasses. Work in a well-ventilated area and keep working areas free of dust by cleaning up with a damp sponge. Do not eat or drink in your workspace.
Children should not work with raw materials.
