Sibelco Casting Slip: White Stoneware

I'm a newby to this, first attempt. Watched the video done my research and wow.
I have just fired my first batch and am so impressed. Fired beautifully on the bisque now ready for the glazing. Worked perfectly to my timings, once fired comes out a beautiful white. Would highly recommend this product for ease of use and finished piece.

I dont know if its to do with mixing but weighed everything and used the amount commended but seems to crack/ split very easily even if left a little thicker in the mold. frustrating , would prefer ready made slip for casting and I bought 25kg!

really like this slip, gives a nice smooth white result. A bit tricky to mix if you follow the instructions to get the SG right before adding any dispex, it is too stiff so I added half the recommended amount of dispex to the water before mixing in the powder and that made it mix better. important to get the SG and viscosity right and then it casts very well. I also use it for raku firing and it has performed very well as long as it is not cast too thin, when it is more likely to crack.

Was very happy with this casting slip, works better than expected and easy to follow the YouTube instructions. Its quite hard to eliminate all the tiny air bubbles when pouring but it turns out that it doesn't matter. Extremely happy with my cast pieces. The only thing I would say is that white clay seems to shrink more than some others so you need to take that into account when making a mould and add on a bit more size.
