Looking for something special from your glazes?

Let us show you how to achieve these amazing effects by layering our Vitraglaze colours!

This set consists of 2 x 250ml glaze, 1 of each in the following stoneware colours:

Reactive White

Liquorice Black

As always we want to ensure you are glazing without the guesswork so simply use the following method.

Applying the brush on glaze:

Layering Vitraglaze is best done using brush-on glazes. It is best to have one brush for a light colour and one brush for the dark i.e. red iron oxide colours to avoid contamination. Apply two generous layers of your first glaze, Reactive White and let this dry, this should take between 5 – 10 minutes and then apply two more layers of your second glaze the Liquorice Black. Clean the glaze from the bottom of your pieces, so you have at least a 1cm gap between the glaze and the base just in case the glaze runs. Make sure to clean the bottom of your piece thoroughly before putting it in the kiln.

Protect your kiln and shelves by testing with small samples before using the glaze on the final wares. We recommend the use of Batt Wash to protect shelves and with glaze layering such as this, we also recommend using handmade stoneware bisque dishes to catch any over fluxing glazes.
