A light, thin and flexible metal rib will clean up the edges of a thrown pot. Hold the rib at an angle to smooth down the undulations made by your fingers. Use the sharper angle at the flat bottom, to clean the bottom of the pot before wiring off from the wheel.

When hand building it will smooth leather hard clay to get crisp edges. It can also be used for cutting and trimming.
